Storm Tryouts

Teams in each age group will compete in the MCBR league and play competitive level travel baseball around the Rochester area against other towns. The teams can also compete in weekend tournaments. This is a tryout and not all prospective players will make the team. It is recommended to attend all tryout dates to allow for a more thorough evaluation of prospective player’s ability. Prospective players should arrive 30 minutes prior to tryout start time for warmups and be ready to play with gloves, bats, protective cups, helmets, cleats and a copy of birth certificate. Players will participate in a number of offensive and defensive drills and their abilities will be evaluated based on their performance. 

Players who display a positive attitude and ability to play travel baseball will be notified by the respective team manager within 2 weeks after tryouts and can then accept or decline the roster spot.

There is no cost for the tryouts. A portion of the registration fee is due when accepting the roster spot. Registration fees will vary depending on age level. If you have any further questions, email the Storm at gateschilistorm@gmail.com.

Typical Year: 

Indoor practice time once or twice per week sometime after January 1st through March then hopefully the weather cooperates and teams can begin outdoor workouts. The MCBR season begins in late April and runs through the end of June/first week in July. The regular season is made up of 16 games, mostly scheduled Friday and Sunday but can very often be rescheduled for other days as well. Practices during the season will be at the manager’s discretion but usually will be once or twice per week. At the conclusion of the regular season there is a 4-game round robin playoff bracket played to determine a bracket winner. Dependent on age level, teams will participate in local weekend tournaments either within season or in July/August. 

2023 Registration Fees: 

Player’s age determined as of 4/30/24

• 10 and under (10U) – Estimated $500

• 12 and under (12U) – Estimated $550

• 15 and under (15U)* – Estimated $650

 *will be broken down into 14U/13U well dependent of number of players 

• 17 and under (17U)* – Estimated $650

Registration Fees include: 

• League Fees which include team insurance, umpires, baseballs, Red Wing games 

• Home/Away jerseys for 12U and under, 13U/14U/15U/16U gets one jersey, pants, socks, belts and hat. 8U will also receive team helmets.  

• Indoor practice time during winter months at a local facility 

Local weekend tournaments will be paid for by fundraising. Number of Tournaments dependent on age level of team. 

Fundraising is Mandatory

Players may choose to opt out of the fundraising and pay the lump sum of $225 at the beginning of the season with their first payment.
